Front Yard Tulips

This week my front yard tulips came out, too, first one on Tuesday, and then a bevvy of others on Wednesday, pictured here. They are so pretty! I have not done any more flower drawing lately, but hopefully will try to do some this weekend. My subway series has been going apace, however . . .

On Monday evening I drew this group of subway riders. The man with his PDA was quite engrossed, thus oblivious to my sketching going on behind him on the other side of the aisle!

Beautiful Sunny Spring Weather!

Yesterday was the first really, really nice spring day I could enjoy at home, so I did some yard work and was just a bit lazy, for a change. So much to do and not enough time, but I just went slowly yesterday! And the very first of my tulips in my own yard has bloomed, yay!

Since I used up my green tea I was going to throw the box out, but then my Flickr friend Jeannette said she collected pretty boxes and things, and I thought, maybe she'd like to see some pictures of the actual box, so I unfolded it and took these pictures:

Greeting Cards!!

After my friend Mariana posted her new experience setting up a greeting card store (see her blog post: http://www.mrana.typepad.com/bitbybit/ ), I thought it would be a great idea for some of the other of us Flickr artsy types to do, too. So I went to the site where Mariana has her shop:
http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/default.asp and set up one of my own:

It takes a bit of doing to get something set up really nicely, so I certainly have more work to do! But take a look at Mariana's store--she has done a really great job:

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Green Tea

I love green tea! But I had a box of it sitting on the top of my computer for a month or so, waiting for me to finish drawing it. I stopped drinking the tea since I would have thrown out the empty box, but finally decided I needed to buckle down and just do it, so here is the result! Oh, and just to let you know, I used that last tea bag today! Yum!

Snowy Monday

It's tax time, so you normally don't expect snow when April 15th rolls around. And I didn't expect it last night when I went to bed with the wind blowing and the rain coming down. So I was surprised this morning to look out and see a white world once more! It's all supposed to melt by the end of the day, but still!!

Last night as I prepared supper I thought I would get a flower drawing in, and then I thought it was pretty simple so I should be able to add some color, too! Here's the result, you can let me know what you think. I may do another in pencil later, since the pen here ran a little bit when I added the watercolor.

Sunny, then rainy Weekend

It started raining last evening and hasn't stopped, so it's pretty messy out there now! My son and I did do a little yard work Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, getting the yard picked up a little and the lawn mowed for the first time this year (and bending the lawn mower blade going over a root, too! oh well . . .). I shot off a number of pictures, some more of the weed flowers, which Jeannette was asking about last week. So I'll post some here and some on Flickr . . .

The little blue flowers were not out last weekend, and the lavender ones have grown tremendously since then. They are almost drowning out the grape hyaciths! The pussy willow is now bursting forth, and the dogwoods are starting to open. Not to mention the dandelions!! The tulips and daffodils are still going strong, too!

Dinner with Chair

I originally did this drawing in pencil, but then at the suggestion of my friend Laura I put in color on top of a xerox copy with color pencils. It was fun to do, but takes so much longer than drawing the original! It is Artwords weekly topic #48.
