Hair Art

Two drawings I did this week feature hair in color. I am enjoying adding color to Pitt pen drawings, and it just so happens that two of my recent drawings on the train have hair as a main focus. I don't happen to be the administrator of the Flickr group "Hair Drawing Club" ( http://www.flickr.com/groups/hairdrawingclub/ ) for nothing!

The coloring took two different routes here. The first one (which I posted for EDM challenge #118) is colored with markers and color pencil, while the Palm phone drawing was done exclusively with watercolor. As I watch the number of views on my Flickr posts it is obvious that the color drawings attract more views than the black and whites, generally speaking. So I will try to keep doing more coloring. Oh, and if there is writing all over the drawing that seems to attract a lot of views, too! When I do that in the future I will have to make what I write more interesting!

Hi Kath
I didn't even know you had a blog! I love these drawings the one on the left is a particular favourite of mine. I love the way you have acieved the sheen on her hair. Don't know how you did that?!

Here's the website for the teas. It's not a great site in my opinion. If you go to shop and the herbal teas.

http://www.pukkaherbs.com/pages/

The rose and lavender tea is called 'love'. It's well worth a try. It's a British company so I'm not sure if you cannot order. Let me know - if you cannot I'll send you some. I also have tried Clarity, Relax and Detox. All goodbut love is the best. I'm actually glad to have looked on the site myself as there are more teas that I had not seen before!! You know what that means; I'll be spending more money!! Ha.

Cheers Andrea.

Hi Andrea!
Thanks so much for the tea info. I looked at the Pukka site, but they didn't seem to have a US distributor, so I just googled rose lavender and chamomile tea, and came up with this:
"Romantic Garden Tea * - $1.95
Magically blended to draw the forces of love into your life, with rose petals, lavender, jasmine, hibiscus, organic chamomile, lemon balm, lemon verbena, violet, blackberry leaf, and rosehips." from http://www.boulderdushanbeteahouse.com/teahouse-cgi-bin/shop?category=56
so that will be easier and cheaper for me to order from. Actually, I might even be able to find it in my local health food store!
Oh, and glad you like these hair drawings! The sheen on the "It" drawing is some colour pencil on top of the marker (and of course, not drawing hair in that spot), on the blue headband one it is a combination of not drawing all the hair and just how I painted it, if that helps any.
Thanks again!
Blessings, K

Georgeous drawings--the hair is wonderful. At first I thought you meant you did the drawing using your Palm phone (they make drawing software for them but it's not great). I had no idea there was a hair drawing group!

Hi Jana, thanks for stopping by! And thanks for your kind comments. And no, I don't have a palm phone! By the way, please do join the Hair Drawing group if you like!
